In 1999
DaCosta Cup:  Our school emerged zone winners but failed to go beyond the second round, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Alopel Dixon and his team.

Headley Cup:  Our school also emerged zone winners but was unable to progress to the second round because a student transferred from another school was inadvertently registered and played in a number of matches, causing us to be disqualified from the competition.  We are indeed privileged however to be able to engage the services of
Mr. Renford Pinnock as the coach for our Cricket Team and in recent time to be  more than fortunate to attract Mr. Frank Brown former national representative who once led this school to a DaCosta Cup final, has returned and is presently coaching the team for  the 2000 competition.

In 1998
Phillip Walsh and Althon Rattingan did well in the 10K road events: Walsh winning the under 20 category in the Hugo Chambers 10K whilst Rattigan placed second in the same category at the North West St. Catherine 10K.    At the 1998, Ovaltine - JC development meet, Damion McCormack won the Class One 100 metres and was second in the 200m, Deborah Watson won the Class Two 800 and Elva Goulbourne won the Class One long jump.
Elva has continued to perform well, winning the 100m Class One Girls at Dyoll Howard Jackson in Morant Bay.
At the Dyoll Steths Invitational, Elva actually stole the show by winning three separate events: the long jump, the 100m and the 300m. Damion McCormack also won the 300m at the St. Elizabeth Grand Prix meet.

Dinthill Excels Again......
Elva Goulbourne
Elva Goulbourne who is now attending Central Arizona College recently qualified for the U.S. Nationals in 100m and long jump. Her academics and athletic endeavors are up and above standard respectively.
In 1999 at the Penn Relays, Elva jumped 6.40m shattering the record (6.33m) held by Carol Lewis, sister of Olympian great Carl Lewis. Her performance at the Penn Relays brought her few wonders: "High School Athlete of the Year" for the 105th Penn Relays , receiving her award from Actor/Comedian Mr. Bill Cosby, and recognition fron central Arizona College where she is now attending on a scholarship.
Elva is very unassuming and studious. She is from Lime Hall in St. Ann, attended Bamboo All-Age School before going on to Dinthill Technical High School. While at Dinthill she was the recipient of various awards and participated in events as far away as Annacy, France. In 1994 at the Girls' Championships she took home 3 Gold Medals, for her performance in the 100m, 200m breaking the record for the 100m, and for the long jump with a record of 6.47m.
Elva is very close to her parents in spirit and bridge the miles with regular letters and phone calls to her family.
The members of the Alumni Association here continue to assist her in various forms, (both morally and financially). With this type of constant support, there is no doubt that Elva will continue to shine and the great future that was predicted for her becomes more of a reality each day by leaps and bounds!
Although Elva is not a Dinthill student any longer whenever she succeeds, Dinthill (we) excels with pride!
